About BMS Skills Academy

Who we are

BMS Skills Academy Ltd is a UK limited company, registered at Companies House, providing practical training in building management systems (BMS).

Our focus is real-life BMS skills. Our courses are about practical BMS engineering rather than manufacturer-specific product training. Candidates work with BMS controllers, control panels, sensors, actuators, relays, plant interfaces and communications devices similar to those found on live projects.

The aim is not simply to explain how BMS equipment works. Candidates are expected to physically test, prove, diagnose and document BMS installations.

How we train

We offer classroom courses at the academy and online learning.

Classroom courses

• Classroom sessions introduce the principles; a large part of every course is hands-on practical work
• Candidates read drawings, use a multimeter, trace circuits, work with controllers and I/O, and find deliberately introduced faults
• Assessment runs throughout the course: practical exercises, technical questioning, knowledge checks, fault-finding and commissioning documentation, finishing with a final practical competency assessment

Online courses

• Work through the course day by day and module by module at your own pace, in short lessons drawn from the course notes, each followed by key takeaways
• Practise fault finding in the virtual fault-finding simulator: simulated BMS installations with a hidden fault, where you take meter readings, work from the wiring drawing and get scored feedback on your diagnosis
• Online delegates are assessed through end-of-module assessments and a final multiple-choice exam

Safe working practice always takes priority over completing an exercise.
